Final Idea

Installation

This represents the cycle of washing.
Washing is something we do in everyday life, it is a cycle that we repeat, this is also why i have decided too repetitively stack washing machines and use multiple projection .

Above i collected an image of a washing machine and in "paint" i then resized, and pasted many more untill i had 16 machines. This image represents one wall of my final idea.

SHAPE OF THE ROOM^
OCTAGON
-on each wall of the room, there will be 16 washing machienes. The will be eight walls, the room will be in the shape of a octagon. This i feel brings in another one of my cycles, the cycle of shapes.

-^On one of the walls, it will be missing, so people could walk in and view the installation.

-i will not screenprint onto the washing machiene as i feel that this would not look very perfessional, but i would proceed with the stop motion video inside the glass of the machiene.

-The video's will be displayed in each washing machiene by small projectors inside each, they will play one by one, starting from the wall that is on the left of the walk way and will play clock wise. They will have a five second gab between each. Once all the washing machienes have the video playing, all will turn off and start over again.

-As i do not have a room, or the money too process this installation, it will stay as a idea/design and in the future i could make this if i came across the money and space.

Stop motion video.
For my final idea

all together i took 511 photographs of my mother.

below is the stop motion video i created which will be projected out of each washing machine:

I feel this final idea is can also be concidered as a cycle of journey, as it is a journey around my house, going up and down the stairs. it also represents time, this process takes time and takes the same around the same amount of time each time we use the washing machine.

more idea's after artist+research influenced me

IDEA 6
This idea above i feel the image i found of the washing machine on the field influenced me, i loved the way it looked. i felt it looked simple but extremely effective. This idea is very similar to the image above but the composition is different and the meaning behind it, my idea is to represent the cycle of the washing machine process, my idea also would have a video inside the glass.

IDEA 7
^ I feel this idea has been influenced by Rachel Whiteread and Susan Hiller, because it contains aspects of both artists work, for example, Susan Hiller has stuck the box's to the wall, and i have also mentioned that i could do this but with washing machines. Rachel Whiteread displays different sized boxes, so this made me think about having different sized washing machines.

IDEA 8

^After looking at Susan Hillers work more, i came across a peice of art that displayed box's that covered the wholo wall, or was even made to be the wall. This is when i felt i loved her idea, and thought i could change it and make it my own.

IDEA 9

Above is the idea that i prefer out of all my idea's, i can really imagine walking into a room, and all the walls are just made up of washing machine's which videos playing out of each screen. Going back to the previous few pages with my other designs on it, with the multiple videos playing, but playing from a projector or a television, i would make this so the video actually plays out of the screen/glass of the machine, this i feel will look beautiful. I feel i will use this design, and draw it out more clearly on the next blog.

Artists using Multiple.

Rachel Whiteread
this artist links with my cycle of shape page, as she uses shapes to create her work
Below are images of Rachel whitereads work, print-screened from google images:

Rachel WhitereadCBE (born 20 April 1963) is an English artist, best known for her sculptures, which typically take the form of casts. She won the annual Turner Prize in 1993—the first woman to win the prize.
Whiteread is one of the Young British Artists, and exhibited at the Royal Academy's Sensation exhibition in 1997. She is probably best known for House, a large concrete cast of the inside of an entire Victorian house, and for her resin sculpture for the empty plinth inLondon's Trafalgar Square.

information above about Rachel Whiteread i found on wikipedia:

Ai Weiwei
uses everyday things, stacks them up and created art. I am using a washing machine and adding my own touch to it.
Google images of Ai Weiwei's art:

information above about Ai Weiwei i found on wikipedia:

Susan Hiller
i love the way Susan hiller stacks the boxes and how they are in the middle of the wall, not touching the floor on the third photo. This would look great with my washing machines.

Images below i printscreened from google images:

Susan Hiller (born 1940) is an American-born artist who lives in London, UK. Her art practice encompasses installationvideo, photographyperformance and writing.

Develop ideas

Photoshop

Here is have collected an image of a washing machine off google search images.

i then added an image in the middle of the washing machine (the glass) and blended it in by rubbing off the excess with the rubber tool. I also collected images of things that relate to the washing cycle, shrunk there size and also blended these in.

I then collected more images and then realised that this does not give the same effect as what screen printing would. But by this image you can get an idea on how i wanted to print onto a washing machine.

After i had screen printed and added the video in the middle, i wanted too stick real washing tablets and real parts of clothing both clean and dirty on to it, again in random composition.

To develop this idea further, i could also record the sound of a washing machine whilst its on?!

I feel that to make my idea more attractive, if i could afford to by a washing machine i would buy 100 of these, and if i had the time i would screen print them all, add the video inside them and stack them on top of each other.

stop motion

i wanted to create the 5th idea i came up with, the washing machiene then sticking dirty and clean clothes, washing powder and tablets, screen printing the process of the cycle on it and adding the video into the centre of the washing machiene, inside the rounded glass.

because i can not create this in the time and can not afford or find a washing machiene. I will create the video and images for this idea, and then i could complete this if i ever need to.

i thought about using the technique stop motion in my final idea, this is much more interesting than normal viewing of an video.

This video above is of my friend izzie, it was a video for a shop in nottingham called mimm.
